Durham Bulls News Release
The Durham Bulls (18-21) defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (21-18) in game four of the six game series 5-1. With the win, the Bulls now lead the series 3-1 and have won seven of their last eight contests overall.
The Bulls got started offensively right off the bat as LF Miles Mastrobuoni went yard on a solo shot in the first at-bat of the game. After two scoreless innings, 1B Jonathan Aranda
reached home on a Jacksonville passed ball to take a 2-0 lead.
In the following inning, SS Tristan Gray connected on a solo bomb to extend the Bulls lead to three, and DH Joe Hudson used two-run double to add insurance runs in the ninth and a 5-0 lead. Jacksonville SS Demetrius Sims got his team on the board in the ninth on an RBI single. The Jumbo Shrimp had runners on second and third with two outs in the ninth, and Bulls pitcher
Calvin Faucher got a strikeout to secure the win.
Bulls' pitcher Kevin Herget made his second appearance on the mound and picked up his second win after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing three hits, and ringing up nine strikeouts. Jacksonville pitcher Edward Cabrera picked up the loss.
The Bulls continue their road trip in Jacksonville on Saturday for game five versus the Jumbo Shrimp. RHP Easton McGee (2-3,7.12) is expected to get the starting nod on the mound for Durham and LHP Matthew Kent (1-3,5.50) is scheduled to start for Jacksonville. The Bulls return to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, May 24th to take on the Charlotte Knights, triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
