Oklahoma City Comets News Release
The Oklahoma RedHawks used four relief pitchers in their 2-1 win over the Iowa Cubs Saturday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
Relief pitcher Kevin Walker made his first start since 2003 and went three innings, giving up no runs on two hits with two walks and one strikeout. The RedHawks started Walker out of the bullpen after Texas called-up John Wasdin.
Walker was followed by Kelvin Jimenez, who earned the win to improve his record to 2-1. He went 2.2 innings and gave up no runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout.
Jimenez exited with the RedHawks up 1-0 and runners on the corners for Iowa in the sixth inning. Wes Littleton came in and stranded both runners.
Littleton gave up a home run to Michael Restovich to lead off the eighth inning and make the score 2-1. Erasmo Ramirez then came in and pitched two scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season.
The RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Jason Hart doubled to bring home Adam Hyzdu. They made it 2-0 in the eighth when Will Smith scored on a fielding error by Iowa second baseman Mike Fontenot.
The RedHawks and Cubs will meet again at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
