Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (40-38/6-4) played what was perhaps their soundest all-around game of the season on Monday night defeating the Biloxi Shuckers (49-30/6-5) for the second time in three days 5-1 at Riverwalk.

Tyler Wagner (6-3) got the start on the mound for Biloxi, and while the right-hander came in sporting the fourth-best ERA in the Southern League, he would allow an RBI-double to Justin O'Conner in the first, and balked in a run to give Montgomery an early 2-0 lead.

Blake Snell (6-2) on the other side went only five innings but allowed just one run on an Orlando Arcia RBI-triple in the fourth, striking out six in the victory. The left-hander would hand things over to the bullpen, which has struggled at times this season.

But tonight wasn't one of those nights, as the bullpen rose to occasion with Mark Sappington and Kyle McPherson both pitching two innings of shutout ball, and a Tyler Goeddel two-run single in the seventh padded the Montgomery advantage.

The Biscuits would go on to win by four, and will look to take the series from the Shuckers on Tuesday night when Ryne Stanek (3-2)does battle with Johnny Hellweg (0-0) at 7:05 PM.
