PENSACOLA, Fla., - The Cincinnati Reds have announced the following roster changes for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos prior to tonight's doubleheader against the Mobile BayBears. The Reds optioned starting pitcher Josh Smith to Double-A Pensacola.
In three starts for the Reds this year, Smith was 0-2 with a 7.30 ERA. In 12.1 innings of work, he allowed 12 runs, 12 hits and 13 walks and eight strikeouts.
Smith made four start for the Blue Wahoos between April 23 - May 8 where he went 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA. In 25.0 innings of work, he gave up 20 hits and nine runs (six earned) with 24 strikeouts and two walks.
In Triple-A Louisville, Smith started eight games and was 1-3 with a 3.56 ERA. He threw 48.0 innings of work while giving up 49 hits and 19 runs with 11 walks and 35 strikeouts.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have 25 active players on the roster.
