Adam Brett Walker II Selected Southern League Player of the Month

July 6, 2015 - Southern League (SL1) News Release

MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announces the Southern League-MiLB Player of the Month for June. Outfielder Adam Brett Walker II of the Chattanooga Lookouts (Minnesota Twins) was selected for the honors after a monster month at the plate.

In 25 games during the month of June, the 2015 Southern League Homerun Derby champion led the circuit with 19 extra-base hits, 72 total bases, 28 RBI, a .758 slugging percentage, an OPS of 1.129 and a Minor League Baseball-leading 11 homeruns. Producing a .317 batting average during the same span, Walker also recorded top-five numbers with 18 runs, 30 hits, and seven doubles.

Walker showed off his amazing power with a two-homerun game on June 2 and a four-hit game on June 15. However, his most impressive run came from June 5 through the first game of a doubleheader on June 9. In four games, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native went 8-for-15 with six runs, a stolen base, two doubles, two homeruns and 8 RBI. More importantly, Walker paced the Lookouts to wins in all four of those contests, which began a stretch of 14 Chattanooga victories in 16 games, in addition to their capture of the North Division first-half title.

The Minnesota Twins selected Walker with their 3rd round pick of the 2012 draft out of Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. The outfielder has paid dividends through this point in his professional career, selected to both the Midwest League Midseason and Postseason All-Star Team in 2013 and the Florida State League Midseason and Postseason All-Star Team in 2014. In addition to his selection to the 2015 Southern League All-Star game, Walker has been chosen as Player of the Week four times in his career.
