Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis bullpen protected a slim lead for 4.1 innings on Saturday as the Indians hung on to defeat Syracuse, 2-1, at Victory Field.

Adam Frazier's three hits gave him his eighth multi-hit performance in his last ten games.

Josh Bell notched three doubles for the Indians - the first player to do so since Tony Sanchez on 7/11/14.

The win was the team's 800th regular season triumph at Victory Field.

Washington's No. 2 prospect Trea Turner opened the game with a leadoff triple for Syracuse (30-30) before Tyler Glasnow struck out the side to get out of danger.

Glasnow's strikeout total reached six before the Tribe put the game's first run on the board in the second. Jason Rogers came aboard on a base hit before Willy Garcia doubled deep to center, allowing Rogers to score from first to give Indianapolis (32-30) the lead.

Josh Bell hammered a ground-rule double in the third to score Adam Frazier and make it a 2-0 game.

Glasnow departed in the fifth inning with nine strikeouts to his name, replaced by Curtis Partch (2-0) who worked 2.1 scoreless frames to record the win. Taylor Hill (3-5) received the loss for the Chiefs.

Caleb Ramsey belted an eighth-inning solo home run to cut the lead in half against John Kuchno, but Jorge Rondon came on for the Indians to record the save and a team victory.

The series finale is set for Sunday at 1:35 p.m. back at Victory Field. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
