PAWTUCKET, RI - The Louisville Bats evened up the three-game series against the Pawtucket PawSox at McCoy Stadium with a win, 3-1. Left fielder Scott Schebler provided two more hits in today's game, including his first inning solo home run.
The game was decided when a 1-1 tie was broken by a ground-out RBI by first baseman Brandon Allen in the eighth inning and then secured with a sacrifice fly in the ninth, Right-handed pitcher Robert Stephenson (4-3, 3.29) earned this pitcher's duel victory after throwing six innings of one-run baseball with Jumbo Diaz closing the door with a save.
Stephenson allowed just three hits on the day, one being a solo home run in the second inning. His 88 pitches and 48 strikes gave him his first victory since May 14 at Columbus. The bullpen locked down the victory after increasing their scoreless inning streak to 15 and two-thirds innings.
Left-handed pitcher Henry Owens (4-2, 3.40) finished his evening with a no decision for Pawtucket after throwing five and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and just one run. He also walked two and struck out five.
The rubber match will begin with first pitch at 1:05 pm tomorrow afternoon. Louisville's starting pitcher is still to be determined while Pawtucket is slated to throw right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly (1-1, 2.37).
