Indianapolis, IN - The Syracuse Chiefs fell to the Indianapolis Indians, 2-1, Saturday night at Victory Field. Caleb Ramsey hit his first home run of the season, but it was not enough as the Chiefs left at least a runner on base in each of the first eight innings in the game. Taylor Hill threw a quality start for Syracuse, allowing two runs in six innings, striking out five.

Indianapolis (32-30) started the scoring off Hill in the second. Jason Rogers singled to start the inning. He scored a batter later on Willy Garcia's double to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Adam Frazier singled with one out off Hill. Frazier moved to second on a groundout, and Josh Bell followed with his second of three doubles in the game to plate Frazier for a 2-0 lead.

Syracuse (30-30) finally got on the board in the eighth. Ramsey hit his first home run since May 23, 2015 with Harrisburg to cut the deficit to one with two outs in the inning. But that was as close as the Chiefs would get. Jhonatan Solano and Tony Campana each followed with singles, but Jorge Rondon got pinch hitter Matt den Dekker to fly out to end the threat. Rondon got the Chiefs 1-2-3 in the ninth for the save, with Brian Goodwin flying out to the wall in center for the final out of the game.

The Chiefs can still pick up a series win in the rubber game of the series with the Indians Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Austin Voth is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite Trevor Williams for Indianapolis.
