York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution took the field on Friday night in York on Boy Scout night at Santander Stadium, looking to start the seven-game homestand off with a win. However, the Revs ran into an offensive onslaught, courtesy of the Bluefish hitters, en route to an 11-4 Bridgeport victory.

York righty Matt Neil started the game and went six innings, allowing four earned runs and eight hits, departing the game with the Revs only trailing by one. The main source of damage came in the form of a Jobduan Morales two-run bomb in the fifth inning, staking Bridgeport to a 3-1 lead. Welington Dotel added an RBI single in the sixth, making it 4-1 Bridgeport.

The Revs bounced back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs on a single to center by right fielder Yeicok Calderon, climbing within 4-3.

It all fell apart for the Revs in the seventh, as a miscommunication between second baseman Andres Perez and Calderon on a shallow fly ball that dropped in between them opened the door for a three run homer by Matt Wessinger, extending Bridgeport's lead to 7-3. All three runs against reliever Frank Gailey were unearned after the defensive miscue.

Bridgeport then tacked on four runs in the eighth with an RBI single by Morales and a monstrous three-run home run by Andres Rodriguez over the Arch Nemesis in left off of Revs reliever Santo Manzanillo to put the game out of reach.

Each team scored an early run in the third as Wessinger opened the scoring with an RBI groundout, while York answered on an RBI single to left by Starlin Rodriguez.

The Revs will try to bounce back on Faith and Family night presented by Christian School of York and Allen Mark Brittell Allstate Insurance Agency on Saturday, as lefty Rommie Lewis (4-5, 3.16) goes up against Bridgeport's DJ Mitchell (3-4, 2.47) in game two of the series. The night is highlighted by Darryl Strawberry's appearance, along with a Starbucks tumbler cup giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. Also, don't forget to stay after the game for an amazing fireworks display brought to you by Sight and Sound Theater. Tickets are on-sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
