Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(York, PA - June 26, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (22-38) were victorious over the York Revolution (21-40) 11-4 in the opening game of a three game weekend series at Santander Stadium in York, Pennsylvania. Bridgeport pounded out 12 hits on the night, marking the 21st time this season that they have registered ten or more hits in a game. The 'Fish also hit three home runs, their first multi home run game of 2015.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Matt Iannazzo (3-2) earned the victory, tossing five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, walking one, and striking out three. York Starting Pitcher Matt Neil (2-5) was tagged with the loss, pitching six innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, while striking out one, not walking a batter, and surrendering one home run.

With the score tied at one in the top of the fifth inning, Jobduan Morales gave Bridgeport their second lead of the night with a two-run home run off Neil, right after Jonathan Galvez led off the frame with a double. It was the second big fly of the season for the switch-hitter. The 'Fish were clinging to a 4-3 lead when they came to the plate in the top of the seventh inning, and Matt Wessinger gave them a comfortable four-run cushion as he blasted a two-out, three run homer off Revolution reliever Frank Gailey, scoring Andres Rodriguez and Luis Antonio Rodriguez right in front of him. Wessinger 'Touched Them All' for the second time in 2015. The Bluefish broke the game open in the top of the eighth inning, scoring four more runs, with the big blow coming off the bat of Andres Rodriguez, who launched a three-run shot of his own off Santo Manzanillo, giving the Bluefish an 11-3 edge. Rodriguez had his second roundtripper of the campaign, and the 'Fish picked up their second two-out, three-run shot in as many innings. Seven of the 11 overall runs scored by Bridgeport came with two men out. Infielder Josh Prince, in his first game in a Bluefish uniform, led the offensive attack with three hits.

The Bluefish play game two of their series against the York Revolution on Saturday evening at 6:30 P.M., and return to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday, June 29th, when they welcome in the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to begin and eight game homestand. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
