Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Bridgeport, CT - June 25, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (21-38) were defeated by the Camden Riversharks (24-36) 10-8 in ten innings in the rubber game of a three game midweek series at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Thursday night. The Bluefish dropped to 1-5 in extra inning games in 2015, with two of those defeats coming at the hands of the Riversharks at home, the last one a 3-2 loss on opening night, April 24th, in 11 innings. The 'Fish stranded 16 runners on base, a season-high.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Kameron Loe registered a no-decision, pitching five innings, giving up six runs (four earned runs), on eight hits, walking one, striking out three, and allowing one home run. Camden Starting Pitcher Daniel Herrera also did not factor in the game's final outcome, tossing four and one-third innings, surrendering five runs (four earned runs) on seven hits, walking two and striking out two. Riversharks reliever Michael Click (3-0) earned the victory, pitching a scoreless inning, allowing one hit while walking two batters. Bluefish right hander Luis Perdomo (1-3) was tagged with the loss out of the bullpen, going one inning, giving up two runs on two hits, walking one, not striking out a batter, throwing two wild pitches, and committing a balk. Matt Gorgen walked one and struck out two while not allowing a run for Camden, notching his team-leading 13th save of the season.

The Bluefish fell behind three times on the night (4-0, 6-1, and 7-6), but stormed all the way back to take an 8-7 lead in the bottom half of the eighth inning, as Jobduan Morales laced a two-out, two run double off the wall in right field, plating Welington Dotel with the tying-run and John Alonso with the lead run, and the 'Fish were three outs away from a dramatic comeback. Camden answered in the top of the ninth inning off Patrick Mincey, as Carlos Guzman drove home Daniel Rockett, who led off the inning with a walk, and in the blink of an eye the game was tied once again at 8-8. Camden would take the lead for good in the top of the tenth inning off Perdomo with two out and nobody on base. Michael and Daniel Rockett would reach on back to back singles, and pinch runner Jose Gil, who entered the game for Michael Rockett after he was ejected, would score the lead run on a wild pitch from Perdomo. Daniel Rockett would score an insurance run later in the half-inning after Perdomo was called for a balk, and the Riversharks took two of the from the 'Fish, hanging on for the 10-8 ten-inning victory. Bridgeport pounded out 12 more hits in defeat, with Dotel, Alonso, and Matt Burns leading the way with two base knocks each.

The Bluefish now hit the road for a three-game weekend series against the York Revolution, and return to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard to open an eight game homestand on Monday, June 29th, against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the opener of a five game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
