Green Bay Rockers News Release

Powered by a nine run first inning and the dominance of Harry Stanwyck, the Bullfrogs won their final game of the 2012 season on Sunday, 12-3 over the La Crosse Loggers.

The Loggers stormed out of the gates for two runs in the top of the first inning. Austin Bailey and Matt Chapman each reached on base hits to begin the frame and then came home to score and give La Crosse a 2-0 lead.

But the Bullfrogs responded immediately in the bottom of the first inning. After only scoring a combined two runs in each of the first two games of the series, Green Bay broke open the game with a nine run frame. Fourteen batters saw the plate. The Bullfrogs compiled five hits, four walks, and two hit batters as they ran starter Steven Palleres from the game after just one recorded out to tally the nine runs and take a 9-2 lead.

The Bullfrogs tacked on two more in the fourth inning on RBI singles from Collin Shaw and Brian Celsi. Jason McMurray and Dan Douglas scored the runs as Green Bay took a 11-2 lead.

One more was added in the fifth on an RBI single from Alex Abrams, his third RBI of the day.

The Loggers were held scoreless from the second inning onward until Rich Prigatano's solo home run in the top of the ninth inning.

Stanwyck (5-2) earned the victory. He gave up two earned runs in seven innings of work, the second longest outing for a Bullfrog pitcher this season, trailing only his own eight inning outing on July 18. Matt Roberts pitched a scoreless eighth and gave up one run in the ninth inning for Green Bay.

The Bullfrogs' sixth season ends with a victory, and they finish at 34-36 after a season derailed by injuries.

Thank you to all of the fans, sponsors, host families, interns, and everyone else who has supported the Bullfrogs throughout the season. None of this would be possible without the help of hundreds of people.
