Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, MN)- In the midst of the longest hitting streak in Rochester Honkers Baseball history, outfielder Justin Parr (Illinois) broke another record on Saturday night. In his final at bat of the 13-12 come-from-behind victory over the St. Cloud Rox, Parr singled to center field for his 89th base knock of the season, one more than Kevin Lucas's 88 in 1996.
Parr set the record for longest hitting streak in a Honkers uniform on Wednesday night when he belted his sixth home run of the season for a hit in his 20th consecutive game. The previous Honkers record was a streak of 19 games by Chris Kahl in 1997.
Parr has been unloading on Northwoods League North Division pitching and on Saturday night the junior from the University of Illinois collected four hits in five at bats, including his eighth homer of the 2012 NWL season. In his last ten games, Parr has hit .500 with six long balls and 14 RBIs. The Chillicothe, IL native has raised his batting average up to a team-high .371. His hitting streak continues to grow as he has now picked up a hit in 23 straight contests, with just one more game left in the regular season.
Two significant batting records in a span of four days; makes for a pretty good week.
