Bombers Drop Season Finale

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Eau Claire Express used a six-run third inning to propel them to a 9-1 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers in the season finale at C.O. Brown Stadium.

After scoring a single run in the second, the Express sent 12 men to the plate in their big third. They pounded out six hits and took advantage of three Bomber errors in the field. Battle Creek had five miscues on the night. Casey Gillaspie was the big hitting star for Eau Claire with two hits and three RBI, including a two-run homer, his 12th of the season.

Battle Creek's lone run came in the fourth inning. Dylan Delaney led of with a double, advanced to third on a passed ball, and came in to score on an error. Kyle Figgins was the only Bomber to record multiple hits in the game.

Daniel Rockett, the All-Star from last season who started the first 69 games in center field this summer, got the start at shortstop in the season finale. He also pitched an inning and caught for Chad Jasman in the ninth. Jasman, playing in his 211th game as a Bomber, pitched a perfect frame.

The Bombers finished the summer 26-43-1.
