Bullfrogs Cruise to Game One Win over Woodchucks

Wausau, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs returned to Wisconsin to take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks for a home-and-home double header on Wednesday with game one at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin. The Bullfrogs cruised to a game one win over the Woodchucks on Wednesday afternoon, pounding out 11 hits and ten runs to defeat Wisconsin, 10-1.

Luke Watson (UW-Stevens Point) earned the win for Green bay, shutting out the Woodchucks over seven innings. In those seven innings, Watson surrendered only three hits while striking out two. Only one runner reached second base while Watson was on the mound.

Parker Dunshee (Wake Forest) started for Wisconsin and threw just one inning after giving up four runs on two hits while taking the loss for the Woodchucks.

Green Bay jumped out to an early lead on the Woodchucks by scoring four runs in the first inning. All four of the Bullfrogs runs in the inning were unearned.

The Bullfrogs added another run in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead on a Brian Celsi (California) RBI single, before adding four more runs in the sixth inning to go up 9-0. In the sixth, three out of the four runs for the Bullfrogs were unearned. The lone earned run in the inning came on a Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State) sacrifice fly.

Celsi paced the Bullfrogs offensively in game one, going 4-for-5 with four RBI. Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Bekakis both added two RBI each for Green Bay as well.

The Bullfrogs and Woodchucks will now head to Green Bay for game two of the double header on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Joannes Stadium.
