
Growlers Drop Series to Rival Bombers

Kalamazoo, Mich - The Kalamazoo Growlers have been defeated by the Battle Creek Bombers by a score of 8-4.
The Growlers (11-15) end play against the rival Bombers (12-15) and take the season series five games to three.
Battle Creek went on a hitting frenzy in the sixth inning in which they scored six of their eight runs. Battle Creek totaled nine hits on the night.
The Growlers made a late push in the eighth and ninth inning but could not complete the comeback.
Danny Mokrzycki (St. Cloud State) started for the Growlers and gave up eight hits with five earned runs and four strikeouts. Mokrzycki is given the loss.
The Growlers four runs came off seven hits with RBI's from Grant Van Putten (Calvin College), Jesse Puscheck (Canisius College), John Brodner (Wright State), and Alex Maloney (Ball State).
The Growlers head into the second game of their homestand on Thursday, July 31 at 7:05 p.m. against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
Thursday, July 31 is Ladies Night presented by Lawton Ridge Winery and Women's Lifestyle Magazine. There will be an appearance from ABC's "The Bachelor" Bob Guiney who was featured on the shows fourth season and also played quarterback at Michigan State University. It is also Thirsty Thursday, fans will be able to enjoy two dollar Miller Lite draft beers.
