Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced the hockey club will be opening the upper bowl at Copps Coliseum on Saturday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Manitoba Moose. The Bulldogs will be offering $10 general admission upper bowl tickets at area Commisso's Food Market locations with ALL proceeds going toward "The Travis Carter Fund".
Travis Carter has "Battens Disease", also know as Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses. This is a terminal disease with no known cure or treatment. There are currently only 200 known cases of this horrible disease in North America.
"The Bulldogs have been privileged to be involved in many events and worthwhile causes," said Hamilton Bulldogs President, Steve Katzman. "It is our hope that with the proceeds raised from the Saturday, April 5th home game versus the Manitoba Moose, that a cure for âBattens Disease' will be found and Travis' life will be saved."
Travis already suffers from seizures and is going blind. There is hope for Travis as experimental treatments and research are ongoing at Stanford Medical Center and Cornell University. With hope, finding a cure may only be 12 to 14 months away.
"The cure for âBattens Disease' is within reach," said Derek Carter, Travis' father. "With the support of the Bulldogs fans we can defeat this disease and save Travis' life."
