BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that defenseman Brian Pothier has been named to the 2002-03 American Hockey League Second Team All-Star.

In his third season out of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Pothier leads all AHL defensemen with 40 assists this season, and his 47 points are tied for third among league blueliners. Pothier has been recalled by the parent Ottawa Senators eight times this season, recording one goal and two assists in nine NHL games. Named the B-Sens' captain on Jan. 18, Pothier was a starter for PlanetUSA at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic and picked up two assists in the contest. This is his first postseason AHL All-Star nod.

Pothier was previously honored as the final International Hockey League Rookie of the Year in 2001 with the Orlando Solar Bears in the league's last season of play. In his final year at RPI, Pothier's post-season honors included being named to the ECAC Second All-Star Team, the ECAC All-Tournament Team, and NCAA East Second All-American Team.

Each All-Star Team member will receive a custom designed ring in recognition of his selection to the 2002-03 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams.
