Calder Cup Comes To Portland

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today that the Calder Cup, the playoff championship trophy of the American Hockey League, will be visiting Portland on Sunday, March 30. The Cup will be displayed in the lobby of the Cumberland County Civic Center prior to and during the Pirates game with the Saint John Flames at 5:05 p.m.

Its visit to Portland is part of a league-wide tour in the weeks leading up to the 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Pirates will make a return to the AHL's postseason party for the first time since 2001. They clinched a playoff spot on Sunday, March 23.

This is the second time the Calder Cup has visited Portland. It was here for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in February.

The Pirates are back in action Saturday, March 29 when they host the Worcester IceCats at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all remaining regular season home games are on sale at the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
