Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Rochester Americans 4-1 on Saturday night in front of 6,109 fans at Copps Coliseum. Ben Maxwell scored two goals and added an assist to lead the âDogs to their fourth straight victory.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 8:00 of the opening period. P.K. Subban received the puck from David Desharnais before releasing a shot on net. The puck bounced around between the pads of goaltender Tyler Plante before trickling over the goal line. The âDogs took a 2-0 lead at 9:18. Max Pacioretty fired a shot that was saved by Plante. The rebound bounced onto the stick of Maxwell, who shot the puck past Plante and into the net.
Ryan Russell was awarded a penalty shot at 15:56 of the first frame after being hooked by a Rochester defender. Russell skated in on Plante before snapping a shot that beat Plante on the blocker side.
The Americans got on the score board at 4:50 of the second stanza. Max Gratchev collected the puck in front of the net before sending a backhand shot through traffic. The puck squeaked through the legs of Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.
Maxwell added his second goal of the game at 12:56 of the final frame. Frederic St. Denis sent the puck to Glumac, who was positioned at the left side of the net. Glumac fired a backhand shot that was stopped by Plante. Maxwell grabbed the loose rebound before chipping a shot past the goaltender.
The Bulldogs next host the Toronto Marlies for a game on Sunday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
