Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONT. -The Hamilton Bulldogs got a slight scare from the Barrie Colts but hung on for a 6-5 win Saturday at FirstOntario Centre.

The Colts jumped out to the early lead when Roy Radke scored his first of the game on the power play at 14:29 of the first period. That lead would be short lived as Mason Marchment responded for Hamilton with a power play goal not even two minutes later. Marchment tapped in a blast from defenceman Ben Gleason at 16:22 to make it a 1-1 game.

Gleason then scored his 4th of the season with a one timer in front of the net. Matt Luff made the no look behind the back pass for the setup and Trent Fox also registered a helper on the play at 4:48 of the second period. The Bulldogs started to pull away a bit when Niki Petti scored his second of the season at 11:33 with the assists going to Gleason and Marchment.

Barrie closed the gap to 3-2 when Julius Nattinen grabbed his 3rd of the season from Kevin Lablanc at 2:45 of the third period. Just 13 seconds later though Michael Cramarossa deflected a Cole Candella point shot and popped it up over the goaltender and into the net. Defenceman Fedor Gordeev picked up his first OHL point with the second assist on the play.

Then it was Brandon Saigeon's turn at 6:38 of the period. Saigeon banged in a rebound in front of the Barrie goal for his first of the season and made it 5-2. Trent Fox and Matt Luff picked up their second assists of the game with the tally.

The Colts would start to make things interesting at 14:39 when Radke scored his second of the game to make it a 5-3 Hamilton lead.

Barrie clawed even closer as Rasmus Andersson made it 5-4 at 15:38 by blasting a point shot into the Hamilton goal. Then the 'Dogs restored their two goal lead after Michael Cramarossa scored on virtually an empty net as Barrie goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood was heading off the ice and couldn't get into position in time to stop the long shot.

Roy Radke finished his hat trick with just 1:13 remaining in the game setting up a surreal ending.

With the Barrie net empty the Colts were pressuring in the dying second of the game and just before the buzzer sounded the Colts forward thought he had the tying goal but Charlie Graham made a huge save on the final play of the game to safely take the two points at the end of the night.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday night when they host the Mississauga Steelheads at FirstOntario Centre.
