SAGINAW, MI. - On Saturday night, the Saginaw Spirit welcomed the London Knights to The Dow Event Center for their second of four meetings this season. The Knights topped the Spirit 7-0, thanks to a hat trick performance by London's Max Jones.

In the first period, Aiden Jamieson gave the Knights the first lead of the game, after he picked up a pass from Sam Miletic and notched his second goal of the season. A hair shy of a minute later, Max Jones picked up the puck in the Saginaw zone and scored to lift London over Saginaw, 2-0. At 10:48 of the period, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner slipped the puck past Saginaw's net minder Evan Cormier, with the help of Kole Sherwood and Matthew Tkachuk. The Spirit outshot the Knights 10-8 in the first period.

The Saginaw Spirit were unabl e to put a stop to the London Knights scoring affair in the second period. An early whistle put the Spirit on the penalty kill and gave the Knights their third man-advantage of the night. London converted on the power play when Christian Dvorak slipped the puck past Cormier at 4:12 of the second period, reinforcing the Knights' 4-0 lead. Soon after, David Ovsjannikov was summoned into the hockey game for Evan Cormier. The game's scoring was stuck in a standstill until 14:13 of the second period. Max Jones scored his second goal of the game and sixth goal of the season with the help of line mate J.J. Piccinich, adding to the Knights lead. The horn sounded to mark the end of the second period, with the Saginaw Spirit trailing the London Knights 5-0. Shots on goal in the second period favored the London Knights 13-6.

The Knights kept the scoring rolling, as London's Matthew Tkachuk capitalized on the power play opportunity at 7:47 of the period, putting the visiting team over the Saginaw Spirit, 6-0. The final goal for the London Knigh ts came off the stick of Max Jones, who notched his third goal of the night at 10:10 of the period. Aiden Jamieson and Nicolas Mattinen assisted the play. The final score at The Dow Event Center Saturday night favored the visiting London Knights, 7-0. The Knights put a total of 30 shots on the Spirit net. Saginaw recorded a total of 22 shots on London's starting goaltender Tyler Parsons.
