October 31, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Flint Firebirds News Release
Flint, Mich. - Despite the Firebirds' Cullen Mercer scoring with 9:25 remaining in the game to bring the contest within one goal, Flint would not complete the comeback at the Dort Federal Event Center on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1 to the Owen Sound Attack.
After being called for back-to-back penalties with two minutes remaining in the opening frame, Owen Sound would convert 46 seconds into the two-man advantage as Gadjovich redirected a shot from the left-wing point and into the cage to open the scoring, 1-0.
Then, 54 seconds into the second period, Jaden Lindo would score the eventual game-winning goal after finding the back of the net from the slot to increase the Attack's lead to two goals.
Just past the mid-way point of the third period, Connor Chatham headmanned the puck up the right-wing wall to Jacob Collins in the Attack's zone. Collins found a streaking Cullen Mercer who buried top-shelf, left side past Owen Sound's McNiven to earn the Firebirds their first goal of the game.
In the final minute, the Firebirds pulled Nedeljkovic for the extra skater and had multiple opportunities but were unable to tie the contest before time ran out.
