January 15, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
MONTREAL, QUEBEC - Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Bulldogs have assigned defenceman Matt Grassi to the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.
The Bulldogs originally recalled Grassi on December 20th, but he didn't dress in any games. In 24 games with Wheeling this season, he has recorded five points (one goal, four assists) and 21 penalty minutes. The 6'3", 215-pound defenceman split the 2012-2013 season between the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Michigan State University Spartans and the Bulldogs. In 41 regular season games with the Spartans, the Burnaby, British Columbia native recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and 22 penalty minutes. In three regular season games with the Bulldogs on an amateur try out, the 24-year-old recorded no points and no penalty minutes. He was signed to a one-year American Hockey League contract by the Bulldogs on August 12th, 2013.
Hamilton's next game is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th, when they will host the Utica Comets (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
