Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Mudbugs and RiverKings have skated in close catchup's all season long and Saturday night proved to be no different. This time it was the Bugs skating to a 4-1 win after dropping a game to Memphis only days earlier by the same score.

John DeCaro played brilliantly in the first period stopping Memphis on at least three major scoring chances. Neither team was able to register a goal in the first twenty minutes.

Memphis claimed the lead on a second period power play goal by Jaon Sessa, but it wouldn't last long. Forbes MacPherson was first to score for the Bugs as Memphis goaltender Kevin Schieve was caught behind the net. The puck squirted loose in front of the cage, resulting in MacPherson's 7th goal of the season. The Bugs tacked on one more power play goal in the period as Chris Brassard picked the upper right corner to give the Mudbugs a 2-1 lead.

The Bugs picked up insurance goals in the third period when Forbes MacPherson deflected a shot five-hole for his second goal of the game. Karlis Zirnis later one-timed a pass from Jason Basile by Schieve top shelf, carrying the Bugs to a 4-1 final.
