January 26, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio-- The Youngstown, SteelHounds today announce the return of defenseman Matt Hanson as well as the trade of defenseman John Neal to the Lubbock Cotton Kings for future considerations. Hanson returns to Youngstown after a short stay with the Tulsa Oilers where he recorded one assist in 14 games. The Midway, British Columbia native was signed by Youngstown last year on January 11, 2006 to finish off his rookie season as a SteelHound. Hanson had a break out stay with the SteelHounds recording 10 goals and eight assists on route to being named the team's Most Improved Player.

This season started off on the wrong foot for the 24 year old as he missed the first two months with an injury. He would debut as an Oiler on December 15th against the SteelHounds in a game that Youngstown would win 4-2.

"Matt is a strong player who can bring a lot to our power play," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski. Hanson will get himself reacquainted with the Mahoning Valley tonight when the Hounds host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Chevrolet Centre in game one of a three game weekend at 7:05pm.
