Bakersfield, CA - Goaltender Peter Budaj recorded his AHL-leading ninth shutout of the season making 35 saves to help the Ontario Reign (40-18-4-1) over the Bakersfield Condors (28-25-6-2) 2-0 Saturday night at Rabobank Arena. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Reign.

Box Score The two sides fired 25 total shots in the first period and the Reign peppered Condors netminder Eetu Laurikainen (L, 43 saves on 45 shots) with 21 shots in the second frame, but both Laurikainen and Budaj denied every opportunity through 40 minutes of action.

Reign forward Brett Sutter broke the scoreless tie early in the third period deflecting in a Nick Ebert shot from the point at 2:50. Forward Michael Mersch added the second assist. Forward Kris Newbury added an insurance marker at 11:16 when forward Jordan Samuels-Thomas found him alone on top of the goal crease for his eighth goal of the season. Forward Justin Auger chipped in the secondary assist.

The Reign finished the game 0-for-1 on the power play while the Condors went 0-for-3.
