Springfield Falcons News Release
Bridgeport, CT - The Springfield Falcons ended their longest road trip of the season with a 3-1 win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Webster Bank Arena on Sunday night.
Playing in his first career AHL game, Tyler Currier scored just 10:56 into the game. Jordan Szwarz won a faceoff to Dylan Reese who backhanded a shot towards the net. Currier deflected the puck through the pads of Sound Tigers' netminder Stephon Williams. The puck sat on top of the goal line for Currier to tap into the net. Niklas Treutle made 14 saves through the first period to hold the score a 1-0 lead for the Falcons.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Falcons through the second period. Treutle was tested heavily but turned aside all 15 shots in the stanza and all 29 shots through the two periods. Williams stopped all five of the Falcons shots in the frame.
Just 1:06 into the third period, the Sound Tigers tied the game at one with a one-timer from Alan Quine. His 19th of the season was assisted by James Wright and Matt Finn. The Falcons regained their lead with a one-timer goal from Szwarz. Currier began the play by creating a turnover at center ice then feeding the forward for his ninth of the year. With 58 seconds left, Szwarz added another goal on an empty net for his tenth of the year with assists from Craig Cunningham and Dakota Mermis. Treutle made 38 saves to collect his twelfth win of the year. Williams made 18 saves on shots to move his record to 13-11-1.
