Bucks rally to defeat RiverKings 5-4

Adam Rivet scored on a power play with 1:51 remaining in overtime to give the Laredo Bucks a 5-4 overtime win over the Mississippi RiverKings tonight at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

The RiverKings (25-14-2) led 4-0 just 9:45 into the game. Louis Dumont scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season, Chad Woollard scored his 21st, and Ryan Campbell added his 18th. At that point, Bucks goalie Dustin Traylen exited the game after failing to stop a shot.

The Bucks (29-13-2) got one back in the first, as James Hiebert scored his 22nd goal of the year. Jeff Bes banged home his 28th of the season in the second period to make it a 4-2 game. Then in the third period, Chris Korchinski lit his 16th lamp of the year and Serge Dube potted home his ninth goal on the campaign to tie the game.

John Ceci made 26 saves in relief for the Bucks. Ian Keserich made 25 saves for the RiverKings.

The RiverKings will travel to Youngstown next weekend for a crucial three-game series with the SteelHounds. The first game will take place on Friday at 6:05 p.m. The broadcast will begin at 5:55 p.m. on Sports 56 WHBQ.

The RiverKings will have a few busy days away from the ice. Beef O'Brady's on Goodman Road in Southaven will host a RiverKings "Super" Party on Sunday. The festivities with the players will kick off at 4:30 p.m. Beef O'Brady's will also host RiverKings Roundup on Monday. Fans who won't make it can tune in to WHBQ at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the next RiverKings players' sign and dine will take place on Tuesday at Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Olive Branch from 6 p.m. to 7:30. RiverKings Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day will also take place on Tuesday, which means all season ticket holders can show their ID cards to receive free Tropical Smoothie Cafe smoothies.
