Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Central Hockey League announced today that Rocky Mountain Rage forward Daymen Rycroft has been named the Sher-wood/CHL January Player of the Month. Rycroft will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

Rycroft led the league in the month with 16 goals, five power play goals and 26 points. The Beaverlodge, Alberta, native currently leads the CHL with 34 goals and ranks fifth with 58 points (34-24=58). Additionally, he leads the league with 15 power play goals and eight game winning goals. During the month, Rycroft had a CHL season-high 10-game goal scoring streak that saw him score 15 goals. The 5-11, 185-pound forward has eight multiple-goal games on the season. Rycroft has had particular success this season versus the Rage's in-state rivals, the Colorado Eagles, scoring eight goals with four assists in six games versus the Eagles.

The monthly award is the fifth league accolade won by Rocky Mountain players this season. Rycroft was named Player of the Week for Jan. 7 - 13, which followed on the heels of Scott Wray (October Player of the Month), Simon Watson (Player of the Week, Nov. 5 - 11), and Tyler Butler (Player of the Week, Dec. 3 - 9) also receiving league-wide recognition.

Rycroft has been a key ingredient in the Rage's outstanding season, helping the second-year team to first place in the Northwest Division at 28-7-4. Rocky Mountain currently leads the division by seven points over Colorado, but for the first time since early December, another team resides atop the CHL Coaches Poll which was released yesterday.

CHL COACHES POLL - Jan. 31st, 2008

Voting for the CHL Coaches Poll is done by the 17 CHL Head Coaches during the beginning and middle of each month throughout the season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs' tremendous run over the past seven weeks has earned them the top spot in the latest CHL Coaches Poll. The Mudbugs are currently on a 20-game point streak going 19-0-1 over that stretch. The last time the Bugs lost in regulation was December 8th in Colorado. Bossier-Shreveport tied the CHL record on January 19th by winning their 15th consecutive game. Bossier-Shreveport has not lost at home since November 2nd, setting a franchise record with 17 straight home wins. The Mudbugs lead the CHL with 62 points (two more than Rocky Mountain). The Rage had owned the top spot in the last three CHL Coaches Polls.

There was very little movement in the most recent poll with the Rage and Mudbugs, the Bucks and Eagles and the SteelHounds and RiverKings all switching places. The other four teams in the poll remained in the same location as the previous poll on January 18th. Only the Mudbugs and the Rage received first place votes.

The Mudbugs are 29-7-4 and own the CHL's highest winning percentage (.775). Last season's Governors' Cup winners (regular season champs) are 17-4-0 at home and 12-3-4 on the road this season. The other team making the most movement over the past month is the Colorado Eagles who were #7 in the January 3rd poll, #4 in the January 18th poll and now sit at #3 in the current poll.
