Published on February 1, 2008 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League announced today that Ken Carroll of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of January/2008. This make it two consecutive months that Carroll has earned the award and the third month that the Mudbugs have taken home the honor (John DeCaro earned the award for the month of November/2007). Carroll will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

For the second straight month, Carroll did not lose a game. In January, the Oil City, Ontario native went 7-0-0 with a shutout and a 1.43 goals against average. He allowed just 10 goals in seven starts and added a shutout to his CHL career-record (now standing at 24 shutouts). His shutout featured a team record 49 saves (most saves in a shutout). Carroll, along with teammate DeCaro, has combined to lead the league with a 1.83 team goals against average.

The 5-10, 175-pound goaltender has won 13 consecutive decisions and is 14-3-1 on the year. His 1.73 goals against average is second in the league trailing only DeCaro (1.71) and his .942 save percentage is second to DeCaro as well. The Mudbugs as a team have combined for 10 shutouts tying the CHL record for team shutouts in a season. Carroll is in his seventh season with the Mudbugs posting a 149-60-16 record. The Mudbugs lead the league with 62 points and a .775 win percentage. The Bugs lead the Northeast Division with a 29-7-4 record and currently have a 20 game point streak (19-0-1)

Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for January include Austin's Miguel Beaudry, Laredo's Dustin Traylen, Mississippi's Ian Keserich, New Mexico's Andrew Martin and Odessa's Alexandre Vincent.
