
Bucks Make Several Roster Moves

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League made several roster moves Thursday, the day before they open the 2008-09 season at the LEC. In all, the Bucks released one player, signed another, acquired one in a trade, and placed a player on injured reserve.
GOALTENDER COLLICHIO RELEASED
The Bucks released rookie goaltender Mike Collichio Thursday afternoon, after his two pre-season appearances.
Collichio stopped 12 of 15 shots he faced in Laredo's first pre-season game with Rio Grande Valley, before setting aside 20 of 21 Killer Bee attempts in the two team's second pre-season match-up.
Sebastien Centomo will be the Bucks number one goaltender this season, with rookie netminder Ryan Gibb securing the second goaltender spot on Laredo's roster.
BUCKS SIGN FORMER ALL-AMERICAN GOOCH
The Bucks signed signed rookie defenseman Mike Gooch for the 2008-09 season. Gooch spent the last four seasons playing for Neumann College (NCAA), before playing nine games in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers at the end of last season.
Gooch, from Mantua, New Jersey, captained Neumann all four seasons, and will have his jersey retired by the Knight's this year.
The 5'10, 180 pound Gooch was named a Second Team All-American in 2006-07, as well as earning three ECAC West All-Conference nods in 2004-05, 2006-07, and 2007-08. Gooch was also named to the ECAC All rookie team in his freshman year in 2004-05.
In his four seasons with Neumann Gooch collected 99 points in 100 career games, leading the Knight's to a combined 52-41-8 mark.
Gooch's most productive offensive season came last year, when he put up career high's in assists (28), and points (32), to go along with four goals.
After his college career with Neuman ended last season, Gooch played in nine games for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. In those nine games Gooch handed out one assist, and picked up nine penalty minutes.
Prior to college Gooch played one season of junior hockey for the MJHL's OCN Blizzard,where he was a teammate of Bucks forward Matt Summers. In his one season with the Blizzard, Gooch scored five goals, with 30 assists for 35 points in 59 games.
BUCKS ACQUIRE JUDD FROM BLAZERS
Laredo acquired rookie defenseman Jaye Judd from Oklahoma City for future considerations. Judd is expected to arrive in Laredo Friday morning to sign his contract. He is expected to suit up against Rocky Mountain in the season opener Friday night.
The 6'2, 220 pound Judd played the last four seasons for Bentley College (NCAA). In his four seasons at Bentley, Judd scored 11 goals, with 38 assists, for 49 points, while collecting 306 penalty minutes.
Judd, from Brandon, Manitoba, picked up a career high 119 penalty minutes in 2006-07.
Judd played three junior seasons in the BCHL for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, where he picked up 232 penalty minutes in 130 games.
HAND TO IR
Rookie defenseman Ryan Hand will start the season on the 30-day injured reserve list. Hand was injured in the Bucks first pre-season game against Rio Grande Valley.
BUCKS REGULAR SEASON ROSTER
The Bucks will make three cuts Friday morning before morning skate, to trim their roster to to league mandated 19. The team will announce their final roster Friday morning.
The Bucks open the 2008-09 season at the LEC Friday against the Rocky Mountain Rage.
