Rockford Aviators News Release

Kenny Bryant belted a pair of homers, his first two of the season, but his five RBI's weren't enough to boost Rockford out of its losing streak in Sunday night's 8-7 walk-ff loss against Florence. The Freedom (9-6) won the game on Edwin Padua's sacrifice fly to right field. The Aviators (1-13) have now lost 12 consecutive games.

For the first time this series, Florence got on the board first on Byron Wiley's RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. But Rockford quickly regained the lead at 3-1 on Bryant's first home run in the top of the second.

The Aviators surrendered two runs in the bottom of the third, followed by Padua's pinch-hit RBI single in the fifth to give Florence a 4-3 advantage. But the back-and-forth contest continued as Bryant's 2-run blast in the top of the sixth gave Rockford a 5-4 nod.

Florence delivered the next two blows - an RBI single from Jim Jacquot and a 2-run double from Pablo Bermudez. This time, however, Rockford got contributions from Matt Greener (RBI triple) and Michael Hur (RBI single) on back-to-back 2-out hits to tie things in the top of the seventh. Kenny Bryant could not come up with another big hit, though, and the score remained locked at 7-7.

Both bullpens would bear down until the 11th frame, when the Freedom came up with the walk-off win.

Drew Rucinski tossed 5.2 innings, surrendered seven earned runs and struck out five. He did not earn a decision in Rockford's seventh 1-run loss of the young season.
