Laval Rocket News Release
LAVAL - The Rocket could not defeat the Providence Bruins during their only visit to Laval this season and fell to the Boston affiliate 6-3 on Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 7,386 at Place Bell.
Colby Cave found the back of the net five minutes into the first period for the Bruins by trickling the puck behind Michael McNiven on a delayed Rocket penalty to score his seventh of the season. Though they were not needed on that first play, the Laval penalty killers were forced killed off three Providence power plays by period's end.
The Bruins power play unit eventually capitalized on one of their chances early in the second and Anton Blidh extended Providence lead to three when he sent a fluttering puck over McNiven's shoulder shortly after the power play goal. Zach Fucale then entered the game in relief of McNiven and the momentum from the goalie change fueled Chris Terry's 24th of the season, which he scored by slapping the puck from the blue line on the power play. Fucale came up big on multiple occasions in the period, but Austin Czarnik beat him late in the second frame to restore their three-goal lead.
Another early Providence goal in the third put the game out of reach for the Rocket, but Kerby Rychel added two goals to the Laval side of the board before Czarnik found the empty net for the Bruins, which made for a final score of 6-3.
"We're not satisfied with how we're doing at home, we should be comfortable here and we should be winning at home," explained Markus Eisenschmid after the game. "I think we just have to stick to our game plan [...] it's never too late to figure out what it is that makes us successful."
