Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY) - Rochester Americans General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the team has recalled forwards Alex Kile and Vaclav Karabacek from the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL).
Kile, 22, began his rookie campaign with the Cyclones, notching 11 goals, nine assists and 20 points, all of which rank second on the team among first-year forwards, in 32 games this season.
The Troy, Mich., native posted a career-long five-game point streak from Jan. 21 to Feb. 2, during which he had six points (3+3). Over Kile's last seven games with Cincinnati, he's totaled six points (3+3), including a pair of multi-point efforts.
Kile made his pro debut with the Amerks late during the 2016-17 season, scoring two goals with one assist in 11 games. Prior to joining Rochester, the 6-foot-0, 193-pound forward helped the University of Michigan capture its first Big-10 Tournament Championship in school history. As a junior, he had a breakout season, establishing career-highs in every offensive category, including goals (16), assists (18) and points (34) while finishing fourth among all Michigan skaters in overall scoring.
Kile completed his four-year career at Michigan with 80 points (40+40) and 78 penalty minutes in 130 games with the Wolverines.
Karabacek, 21, rejoins the Amerks after appearing in Rochester's 3-0 shutout win over the Binghamton Devils on Nov. 15, recording three shots. Additionally, Karabacek has skated in 16 games this season with Cincinnati, recording three assists and 30 shots.
A native of Prague, Czech Republic, the second-year pro split the 2016-17 campaign between the Amerks and Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. In 32 games between the two clubs, Karabacek accounted for eight goals and 11 assists and was named an alternate for the 2017 ECHL All-Star Game.
Prior turning pro, the 6-foot-0, 195-pound forward played four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, totaling 117 points (56+61) in 171 career games with the Gatineau Olympiques, Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Moncton Wildcats.
Karabacek was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second-round (49th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Individual game tickets for the 2017-18 season start at just $14, while Amerks 2018-19 Season Ticket Memberships, which start as low as just $10 per game, are on-sale now. All memberships are up to 40% off Box Office day of game pricing. For more information, visit www.amerks.com or call 1-855-GO-AMERKS.
