Brossoit, Barons Shut out Checkers
November 23, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City goaltender Laurent Brossoit recorded his first career American Hockey League shutout leading the Barons to a 3-0 win over the Charlotte Checkers Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.
Brossoit stopped 36 shots on the night for his first shutout in 15 career games in the AHL. It was Oklahoma City's first shutout since April 5, 2014, when Richard Bachman also held the Checkers scoreless with 31 saves.
Andrew Miller scored the first Barons goal at the 9:57 mark of the first period. After a giveaway behind the Charlotte net by the Checkers' Keegan Lowe, Miller corralled the puck and lifted a shot past Charlotte goalie John Muse for what would be the game's decisive goal.
Jason Williams added to the Barons' lead at 1:15 of the third period when a missed wraparound attempt by OKC's Ryan Hamilton skidded to Williams near the left circle, where he sent a shot to the vacated side of the Charlotte net that beat a diving Muse. The goal extended Williams current point streak to four games.
Brad Hunt added an empty net goal at 19:23 of the third to extend his point streak to eight games and give the Barons defenseman 15 points in all eight games he's played this season for Oklahoma City.
The Barons are back in action Wednesday, Nov. 26, when they face the Texas Stars in a 7:30 p.m. start at the Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas.
