Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators earned its first back-to-back victory of the season with a dominating 7-0 win versus the visiting Albany Devils. Andrew Hammond played perfect between the pipes for the home team while seven B-Sens skaters recorded a multi-point night.
Derek Grant scored his first of two goals for the night 12:04 into the opening frame off a great feed from Matt Puempel. Less than one minute later, Garrett Thompson tallied his second of the season when he redirected a shot from Aaron Johnson that beat starting Devils goaltender Scott Wedgewood to make it 2-0. Binghamton carried the lead into the first intermission while outshooting Albany 16-10.
Binghamton used three second period tallies to open the game up. Patrick Mullen scored just before the B-Sens first power-play chance of the night expired making it 3-0 just shy of the five-minute mark. Chris Wideman notched his team-leading tenth goal of the year 11:10 into the frame before Carter Camper made it 5-0 heading into the final intermission with his second of the season with less than three minutes remaining.
The B-Sens added a pair of goals over the final 20 minutes to earn the first shutout of the season. Grant added his second of the night less than three minutes into the third before Jean-Gabriel Pageau added a short-handed tally with less than a minute to play to push the final to 7-0.
Wedgewood allowed five goals on 24 shots faced before relinquishing goaltending duties to Keith Kinkaid at the beginning of the third. Kinkaid allowed two goals on 10 shots in less than 20 minutes of play. Hammond stonewalled all 31 shots faced to improve to 5-8-2 for the year.
Binghamton returns to action Wednesday, November 26, when they host the St. John's IceCaps at 7:05p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive Office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping in 9:00a.m.-5:30p.m. Monday through Friday.
