BROOKLYN, NY -The Cyclones busted loose from their three-game losing streak in a big way on Saturday night with a 10-2 win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds on Coney Island. Led by a three hit, three RBI evening from Zach Mathieu, Brooklyn's Boys of Summer racked up a season-high 15 hits and sent 9,156 home happy from MCU Park. It is the 21st time that 9,000 or more have packed the stadium for a Cyclones home game and the first time since August 1st, 2012.

The Ironbirds got things started early against Brooklyn when Cedric Mullins led off the first inning with a single. Another single was followed by a 3-6-1 double play, leaving a runner on third with two outs. A wild pitch would allow Mullins to score, giving Aberdeen an early 1-0 lead.

Things held steady until the Cyclones finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Jeff Diehl and Mathieu both singled with two outs, leaving runners at the corners. A wild pitch from Aberdeen starter Travis Seabrooke scored Diehl and tied the game at one. A walk to Desmond Lindsay was followed by an opposite-field double from catcher Brandon Brosher, scoring both runners and giving Brooklyn a two-run lead. Seabrooke was removed for LHP Elias Pinales before Branden Kaupe delivered an RBI single of his own, extending the Cyclone lead to 4-1 before the end of the frame.

After allowing five hits in the early going, Badamo settled down for Brooklyn. The right hander retired seven straight Ironbirds between the third and fifth innings, shutting Aberdeen down once being staked to a three-run lead. The Cyclones extended that lead in the fifth after Diehl drew a two out walk and Mathieu clubbed his third home run of the season off the video board in left field to give Brooklyn a 6-1 lead. Badamo was removed after the frame after allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out three over six innings. Badamo (4-6) delivered his eighth quality start of the season and lowered his season ERA to 3.21.

After Aberdeen got one run back in the sixth, Brooklyn responded with another crooked number in the bottom half of the inning. After an infield single, Brosher advanced to second before being knocked home by Pedro Perez. A wild pitch allowed Perez to score before hits by Kaupe and Vinny Siena put runners at the corners with just one out. Pinales was removed for Yi-Hsiang Lin, who surrendered a sacrifice fly from David Thompson. After another Diehl single, Mathieu delivered an RBI double, making it a 10-2 game.

That would be it for the scoring as RHP Nicco Blank came on in relief, giving up just two hits and striking out three. Blank collected his first save of the season by completing three innings of work.

The Cyclones will embark on a seven game road trip consisting of three games at Tri-City followed by four in Connecticut. LHP Kevin Canelon takes the hill for Brooklyn in the opener against the ValleyCats with first pitch scheduled for 5:00 PM at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, New York. The Cyclones return home for their final home series of the regular season on Saturday, September 5th when they take on the rival Staten Island Yankees.
