Brooklyn Beats Aberdeen in the Ninth

Brooklyn, NY - The Aberdeen IronBirds dropped their fourth straight close game on Tuesday night at MCU Park. With a runner on and two men down in a tie game in the ninth, Luke Stewart hit a walk-off RBI-double to push the Cyclones past the IronBirds, 3-2.

The IronBirds jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning. Austin Knight and Dudley Leonora led things off with back-to-back singles, putting runners on the corners. Mychal Givens grounded into a fielder's choice, knocking in Knight.

Aberdeen doubled their lead in the third. With Leonora on first and one out, Givens hit an RBI-double.

The Cyclones tied the ball game up in the seventh. With two men down, Ismael Tijerina and J.B. Brown hit back-to-back singles. Javier Rodriguez then doubled to the wall in left, knotting the game at two.

Brooklyn had one last two-out rally in them. Rodriguez walked with two down in the ninth. Stewart knocked him in with a double to deep right-center field.

T.J. Chism (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the win. Angel Cespedes (0-1) took the loss.

The IronBirds and Cyclones will meet in the finale of this three-game series on Wednesday at MCU Park. The ‘Birds will have right-hander Parker Bridwell (1-0, 0.00). He struck out nine over five shutout innings in his first start. He'll go up against Eduardo Aldama (0-0, 4.50). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
