Swift Current Broncos News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (3-7-1-0) offence continued to roll Thursday night, with eight different players finding the back of the net in an 8-5 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

After giving up the opening goal, the Broncos scored four of the next five goals in the opening period, taking a 4-2 lead into the intermission. Eric Houk, Jordan Borysiuk, Caleb Wyrostok and Kaleb Bulych had goals after the first.

Moose Jaw came out with a much stronger effort in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead late in the middle frame. With just 20 seconds left in the second period, Owen Pickering scored his first WHL goal to tie the game at five heading into the third period.

The Broncos bounced back over the final 20 minutes, scoring three goals while giving up none to take the game 8-5. Mathew Ward, Aiden Bulych and Michael Farren scored in the third while Isaac Poulter turned aside 24 shots for his second win of the season.

The Raiders have stumbled out of the gate for the abbreviated 20-21 season, sitting at 3-5-1-0 10 games into the season. Their 26 goals are the fewest by any team in the East Division this year, though injuries have played a major role in their struggles.

The team has been without captain Kaiden Guhle since the second game of the season due to an injury, and lost San Jose Sharks first-round pick Ozzy Weisblatt March 29 after he was pushed into the boards from behind by Saskatoon Blades captain Chase Wouters. Wouters received a three-game suspension the following day. The Raiders had also been without goaltender Max Paddock for a few games since March 22, having played without a backup goalie on the bench.

Prince Albert initially brought a "normal" sized roster into the Hub, but with injuries have had to bring in additional players. Their 2020 first-round pick, Terrell Goldsmith, has joined the team as well as Dallyn Peekeekoot who was signed by the club March 30. He was a 10th-round selection in 2019.

Saturday is the second meeting of the season between the Broncos and Raiders with Swift Current having won the first game March 22. Reid Dyck picked up his first WHL win by turning aside 28 of 30 Raider shots, while Devin Aubin and Carter Stebbings scored their first WHL goals in the 5-2 victory.
