Brito's Back, Hammond Transferred To Reading

OTTAWA - LHP Eude Brito has been transferred to the Lynx roster by the lynx Major League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phillies. IF Joey Hammond was transferred to Double-A Reading to make room for Brito on the Lynx roster.

Brito, 28, started the season with the Lynx, going 1-1 with a 12.00 ERA in four games before being placed on the disabled list April 20th with a groin injury. He was activated from the DL May 15th and transferred to Single-A Clearwater. Brito split last season between Triple-A Scranton and Philadelphia. He finished 7th in the IL with a 3.17 ERA and was tied for 2nd in complete games (2) and shutouts (2). He was Scranton's Pitcher of the Year in 2005.

Hammond, 29, hit .375 with 2 RBI in four games with the Lynx this season. He was a force with Reading before his promotion to Ottawa, batting .342 with 17 runs batted in over 32 games with the R-Phils. He has a .272 career batting average over nine seasons in the Minor Leagues. He played in Ottawa in both 2003 and 2004, combining for a .257 average, one home run and 62 runs batted in over 193 games with the Lynx.
