Four Richmond batters recorded a pair of hits including Brayan Pena, who was 2-for-4, to record his first multi-hit game since joining the Braves on May 18. Doug Clark, Bill McCarthy and Yunel Escobar were the other Braves with two hits in the game. Jeff Bennett was the first reliever out of the Richmond bullpen and pitched two and one-third scoreless innings. Rich Scalamandre saw his first action since April 20 when he was activated from the DL prior to Sunday's game. Scalamandre pitched one and two-thirds innings and finished the game for the Braves. AS THE ROSTER TURNS: RHP Lance Cormier is the second Atlanta Brave to be assigned to Richmond on a major league rehab. RHP Joe Winkelsas and RHP Paul Bush were activated from the DL on Sunday and were both assigned to double-A Mississippi. RHP Buddy Carlyle joined Atlanta on Saturday. He is the eighth R-Brave to earn a big league call-up this season. RHP Rich Scalamandre has been activated from the DL. With the addition of LHP Dan Smith, who made his Triple-A debut yesterday, the Braves roster again stands at 24 (12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, and four outfielders). NUMBERS OF NOTE: The Braves are playing .500 ball in May (9-9) after playing .750 ball in April (15-5). R-Braves starting pitchers are now 11-13 (.458). Richmond's 27-11 record was the best in franchise history through 38 games. The Braves also set a club record by opening up a 10-game lead in the IL South Division on May 18. That was the largest lead at any time during the season in R-Braves history.
