Following the Islanders' 6-2 win over the Boston Bruins Sunday in the first-ever NHL game in Bridgeport, the Sound Tigers opened training camp with four days of practice at Arena at Harbor Yard starting Tuesday. The Sound Tigers finished the week with a pair of preseason games skating to a scoreless tie with the Worcester IceCats at Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice Friday and losing 3-0 to the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Northeast Flyers Skate Zone Saturday.

SUN SEPT 21st NY Islanders 6 Boston Bruins 2: With former Sound Tigers Head Coach STEVE STIRLING making his return to Bridgeport as the big club's bench boss, the Islanders took a 4-0 lead after one period, increased it to 6-0 after two frames and held on for the 6-2 win in front of 6,892 fans. Former Sound Tigers JUSTIN MAPLETOFT, JUSTIN PAPINEAU, SVEN BUTENSCHON, ERIC GODARD and TRENT HUNTER scored goals while former Bridgeport Goaltender RICK DiPIETRO made 28 saves for the Islanders who also received scoring from JASON BLAKE and three assists from Captain MICHAEL PECA. PATRICE BERGERON and MICHAL GROSEK scored for Boston.

FRI SEPT 26th vs. WOR, 0-0 T: Hosting a game at Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice for the first time ever, the Sound Tigers received a 32-save performance from rookie Goaltender WADE DUBIELEWICZ to open the 2003 preseason. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play while Worcester was 0 for 2 and had a 32-26 shots on goal advantage. CODY RUDKOWSKY made 26 saves for the IceCats.

SAT SEPT 27th at PHIL, 3-0 L: FREDDY MEYER, on a five-on-three power play, and BOYD KANE scored in the first period, and Philadelphia native JAMES LAUX scored with 2:44 left in the third frame for the Phantoms. Laux also had an assist while KIRBY LAW had two helpers. ANTERO NIITTYMAKI made 21 saves for the shutout while SCOTT STIRLING had 29 stops in a losing effort for the Sound Tigers who were 0 for 11 on the power play while Philadelphia was 1 for 8 in a game that had 120 penalty minutes. The Phantoms had a 32-21 shots on goal advantage. PLAYER OF THE WEEK – G WADE DUBIELEWICZ

Dubielewicz made 32 saves in his unofficial Sound Tigers debut Friday. The rookie from the University of Denver, who signed as a free agent with the Islanders this past summer, kept the game scoreless despite shots on goal advantages for Worcester of 12-6 and 10-8 in the first and third periods respectively.

THIS WEEK – Camp Continues With Practice At Wonderland, Game At Winter Garden The Sound Tigers will practice at Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. each day with an intra-squad scrimmage scheduled for Wednesday. They will play Worcester in a preseason game at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Massachusetts Friday at 7 p.m. and return to Connecticut to host the Manchester Monarchs in their preseason finale at the Winter Garden Arena in Ridgefield Saturday at 4:05 p.m.

FRI OCT 3rd at WOR, 7 p.m.: This will be the Sound Tigers' final road game of the 2003 preseason. It will also mark the second year in a row the Sound Tigers and IceCats will have played a pair of preseason games against one another in two rinks outside of their regular home arenas. They played at the Danbury Ice Arena and the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, Massachusetts last September.

SAT OCT 4th vs. MCH, 4:05 p.m.: This will be the Sound Tigers' final game of the 2003 preseason. It will also be their first-ever in Ridgefield, as well as a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series, which the Sound Tigers won in a three-game sweep. Tickets for the game can be purchased in-person at the Winter Garden Arena at 111 Prospect Ridge in Ridgefield or on-line at www.wintergardenarena.com. Tickets for this Saturday's game cost $20 and include an additional ticket for the Sound Tigers' regular-season home opener versus Philadelphia at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday, October 11th.
