Detroit Exports Four More to Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday announced that left wing Ryan Barnes, right wing Darryl Bootland, and defensemen Anders Myrvold and Jamie Rivers were assigned by the Detroit Red Wings to the American Hockey League club.

Barnes, 23, has spent two of his three professional seasons in the AHL, including the 2002-03 campaign as a member of the Griffins. In 73 games with Grand Rapids, he posted a team-high 151 penalty minutes while contributing 11 points (5-6-11) and a plus-12 rating.

Bootland, 21, began last season with ECHL Toledo, racking up 36 points (17-19-36) and a team-high 322 penalty minutes in 54 outings. He joined the Griffins late in the campaign, chipping in five points (1-4-5) in 16 regular season contests and adding another five points (3-2-5) in 15 playoff games.

Myrvold, 28, boasts experience in over 300 AHL games and nearly 500 pro contests. He has played 25 NHL games with Colorado, Boston and the New York Islanders over the last eight seasons, and registered three assists in 45 outings with Mannheim (Germany) last year.

Rivers, 28, has played 340 games with five NHL teams over his eight-year career, including 66 with Boston and Ottawa during the 2001-02 season. A member of the Griffins for two games in 2000-01, he spent nearly all of last season with AHL San Antonio, notching 25 points (6-19-25) in 50 outings.

There are now 33 players on the Griffins' training camp roster. On Tuesday, Groups A and B will practice at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively, before squaring off for a two-hour scrimmage at 4 p.m.
