
Lock Monsters vs. Providence Bruins

The Lock Monsters kicked off the exhibition season with a 2-1 win over the Providence Bruins in front of a full crowd at the Stoneham Arena on Sunday evening. Providence jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period off a goal by Brendan Walsh. The Lock Monsters evened the score at 1:34 of the 2nd period, as Dan Sullivan notched an unassisted goal. Brett Lysak picked up the game winner with a power play goal at 19:20 of the third period, off assists by Carl Mallette and Jim Henkel.
The Lock Monsters host their second exhibition game Tuesday, September 30th with a 7:00 pm contest against the Portland Pirates. The game will be held at Conway Arena in Nashua, NH, tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Friends of Alvirne Hockey in their efforts to fund a varsity hockey team for the 2003-04 season.
2003-04 Individual Tickets on Sale
Individual tickets for all Lock Monsters home games are currently on sale through the Tsongas Arena box office, the Lock Monsters ticket office or by calling Ticketmaster at (617) 931-2222.
Fan Fest '03
The Lock Monsters kick off to the 2003-04 season is scheduled for Sunday, October 5th at the Tsongas Arena. The Lock Monsters annual Fan Fest will include an open practice, free barbecue, DJ, inflatable games, and an autograph session with the 2003-04 Lowell Lock Monsters. The Lock Monsters practice will begin at 10:00 am, and the outdoor events will last from 12:00 to 2:00. All season ticket packages will be available for pick up at that time, and individual tickets will be available for purchase.
Training Camp - 2003
The Lock Monsters began the 2003-04 training camp on September 25th and will continue through October 9th with a roster of Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames prospects, as well as free agent tryouts. The complete training camp roster is attached.
Staff Additions
The Lock Monsters are pleased to announce the addition of two sales women to the full time ticket staff. Dawn Penniston and Kristin Lee will be responsible for season ticket sales, group outings and individual ticket sales. Kristin joins the Lock Monsters after spending two years working as a script writer for a radio production company in Connecticut and as a freelance sports writer for newspapers in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. She graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2001 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Sports Management. Kristin was also a member of both the women's ice hockey and field hockey teams while at Sacred Heart and holds an M.S. in Journalism from Quinnipiac University. She spent last fall as a field hockey coach in Westford and continues to coach camps during the summer.
Dawn Penniston joins the Lock Monsters after interning with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League during the 2002-2003 season. She has worked in the sports industry for the past six years as Assistant Director of the Nike Tennis Camps at Amherst and Dartmouth College, and also served as captain of her college tennis team both junior and senior year. Dawn recently graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in management and business.
