Syracuse Crunch News Release

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers scored on two of their 10 power plays and held off the Syracuse Crunch, 2-1, Sunday at Webster Bank Arena. The teams' eight-game season series is tied, 1-1.

The Crunch were assessed 12 minor penalties, and spent roughly one-third of the contest shorthanded. They afforded their opponent a season-high ten power-play chances, and Bridgeport, the league's most effective unit, scored its 43rd and 44th power-play markers of the season.

Cory Conacher, the former Crunch winger who was scratched Saturday, assisted on both Bridgeport goals. Kael Mouillierat scored his 13th of the year from the right-wing circle through traffic at 14:30 of the first. Alan Quine notched the second assist.

Sound Tigers captain Aaron Ness slammed home a Colin McDonald blast at 13:20 of the second, also set up by Conacher. The Burlington, Ontario native has 15 points in 14 games since the New York Islanders reassigned him to Bridgeport.

Managing just four shots in the first, the Crunch had 11 shots in the second and 11 more in the third, ultimately outshooting the Sound Tigers, 26-23. Andrei Vasilevskiy suffered his second regulation loss in as many starts this week with 21 saves, but was named the game's third star. Bridgeport netminder Kevin Poulin was the game's first star with 25 saves.

Poulin finally cracked at 14:52 of the third when Dalton Smith tipped a Matt Corrente drive from the right wing. Smith, who was scratched Saturday, notched his ninth goal of the year. Corrente notched his second assist and third point. Tanner Richard had the secondary assist for his 20th point of the season.

Syracuse couldn't solve Poulin again with an extra attacker on for the final two minutes, and suffered its second regulation loss this week, slipping to 24-11-5-0. The Crunch power play was 0-for-5.

After playing eight of nine games on the road, Syracuse plays at home Friday against Lehigh Valley and Saturday vs. Hartford.
