PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Alexander Khokhlachev scored with 1:29 remaining in the third period to give the Providence Bruins a 5-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Sunday at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

Pierre-Luc Leblond got a game misconduct for a hit he laid on Seth Griffith at 9:48 of the first period. Both teams had failed power play opportunities early, though the Penguins eventually got on the board via one.

To open a man advantage, Nick Drazenovic won the draw, fed Derrick Pouliot, and then Pouliot set up the lamp for Scott Wilson. Wilson scored the first of his two goals in the game on a wrister from the blue line at 15:19.

Andrew Cherniwchan registered his second point of the weekend by maneuvering through the zone and passing to Rob Flick. Flick's eighth goal of the year tied the game at 1-1 at 19:30 of the frame.

Ben Youds gave the Bruins their first of two leads with the first of his two goals at 3:42 of the second (on the power play). Six minutes later, Tom Kuhnhackl tied it at two apiece, scoring the second power play goal for the visitors. (Both teams ended the game 2-for-6 on the man advantage.)

Thirty-eight seconds later, Carter Rowney gave the Penguins the lead at 3-2. Youds lit the lamp for the second time in the period (and fifth of the season) at 12:09 to re-tie it up, in a similar manner to the first Wilkes-Barre goal (a shot after the draw and one pass early in the power play).

The Pens took their third and final lead, 4-3, when Scott Wilson put his team up again. Matt Lindblad tipped a Steve Eminger shot down into Jeff Zatkoff's five-hole to knot it up at 4-4 with 14:46 left in the middle period.

Neither the Bruins nor the Penguins had many quality chances in the third. Providence was limited to only four shots in the period, but one came from Khokhlachev to seal the win. Colin Stuart forced the puck carrier back into his own zone, stripped him, and put the puck in the left wing circle for Khokhlachev to deposit. The goal gave the P-Bruins a 5-4 advantage that the team would not relinquish.

The Bruins' next game is in Hartford on Wednesday at 7:00pm versus the Wolf Pack.
