Lancaster Stormers News Release

Andres Perez clubbed a pair of three-run homers, and Adam Greenberg added a grand slam as Bridgeport completed a three-game sweep at Lancaster's expense, 15-11, Saturday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

It marks the first time that the Barnstormers have been swept all season and sends the team to its first four-game losing streak of the campaign.

Perez' first blast came in the second. Danny Putnam and Luis Rodriguez each singled to start the inning. Ross Peeples (7-5) nearly pulled himself out of the inning with strikeouts of Angel Chavez and Greenberg, but Perez yanked a pitch down the left field line for his seventh homer of the season and a 5-3 lead.

Peeples was lifted from the game in the third with Bridgeport leading, 6-3, following an RBI single to left by Brock Peterson. Angel Chavez greeted Yunior Novoa with a single high off the right field wall to load the bases. Greenberg followed with his slam to right center for a 10-3 lead.

Lancaster answered with five runs of its own in the bottom of the inning. Adam Calderone and Tommy Everidge, who had each homered in the first, opened the inning with back-to-back singles to left. Matt Watson's grounder up the first base line scored Calderone, who slid around Rodriguez' tag attempt. Aaron Herr lofted a three-run homer onto the picnic tents in right, cutting the lead to 10-7. Starter Paul Oseguera proceeded to walk Brandon Jones and yield a triple to Iggy Suarez before being lifted.

Chris Rivera (2-0) got out of the inning with no further runs coming across.

Novoa and a combination of Bridgeport hurlers kept the game in check until Bridgeport blew it open with five more in the seventh. Danny Putnam doubled to the alley in right center with one out in the inning and moved to third when Jones dropped Rodriguez' fly ball near the right field line. Chavez drove one run across with a sacrifice fly, and Greenberg walked. Perez reached Justin Segal for his second home run of the night, barely reaching the picnic deck. Wes Bankston, who had blasted a two-run homer in the first, singled home the final Bridgeport run for a 15-8 edge.

Gilberto Mejia got two home with a single through the left side in the seventh. Lancaster built a threat in the ninth as closer Juan Rincon walked Jones and Suarez, and Wayne Lydon followed with a single to left. Rincon got the next three outs in a hurry, one on strikes and two on grounders, dashing the final hopes of a comeback.

The Barnstormers will open a three-game series against the York Revolution on Sunday. J.D. Durbin (4-1) is slated to pitch for Lancaster against left-hander Jesus Sanchez. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com and ibnsports.com.
