
Brewer Homers Twice in Power Win

Columbus, GA (August 1, 2007) - Brent Brewer homered twice and knocked in four runs as the Power won their first game of the road trip, defeating the Columbus Catfish 9-1 at Golden Park on Wednesday night.
John Alonso's two out double scored Chuckie Caufield and Taylor Green to give the Power the early lead in the top of the second. Jairo Delarosa smacked his first of two doubles in the bottom of the third inning and plated the lone run for Columbus. Alonso struck again in the fourth inning with a run scoring single.
Brewer's first homerun of the night was a solo shot over the wall in left field in the top of the fifth. In the eighth inning the Power scored five runs to pull away. Kenny Holmberg knocked in the first run with a pinch hit, RBI single. During the next at bat Charlie Fermaint brought Brad Miller in with a Sacrifice Fly and Brewer capped the big inning with a three run homer, his eighth of the season.
Jeremy Jeffress (7-4) pitched six solid innings, allowing just a run on four hits with five strikeouts to get the win while Will Kline (0-2) was tagged with the loss. Omar Aguilar and Shawn Ferguson combined to toss three scoreless innings of relief.
The Power improved to 67-41 overall and 19-21 in the second half, while the Catfish fell to 63-45 overall and 22-16 in the second half with the loss. John Alonso went 2-for-2 with a run scored, three RBI and walked twice. Brewer went 2-for-5, scored twice and knocked in four. It was Brewer's first multi-homerun game of season.
The Power will finish the four game series against the Columbus Catfish at Golden Park on Thursday night. The Power will start right hander Donovan Hand (1-0, 1.80) and the Catfish will counter with right hander Wade Townsend (5-9, 5.01). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
