
Suns Take Double Header

Hagerstown, MD: The Hagerstown Suns won both halves of a double header 3-2 against the Augusta GreenJackets on Wednesday.
The Suns won the first half behind strong pitching performances from Jhonny Nunez and Aaron Jackson. Nunez (3-6) lasted six innings and allowed only two runs on four hits while striking out five batters to earn the win. Jackson pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save of the season.
The Suns scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning on five hits, including doubles by Lindon Bond and Leonard Davis.
Clayton Tanner (10-6) took the loss for the GreenJackets.
It was the same story again in the back end of the twin-bill, as Eric Arnesen (5-5) pitched five strong innings, allowing only one run to earn the win.
Joe Welsh, Chris Lugo and Buzz Vargas combined to pitch the final two innings. Vargas earned his first save of the season.
The Suns scored single runs in the first, second and third innings to take a 3-0 lead. Mike Martinez led the way offensively, scoring twice after reaching on a walk in the first inning and a double in the third.
